Notes.

I deliberately set out to make this an instrumental album with obvious nods to my long time hero, Mike Oldfield on certain tracks, so no apologies there.

I was persuaded to try singing on this album by a good mate who figured it was time to try the only instrument left at my disposal so there are two vocal tracks on this recording.

I don’t consider myself a singer by any means, but when the musical gauntlet is thrown down,I’m happy to pick it up.

My express gratitude to the folks listed below for allowing me to use certain samples from their work, especially Mr Loeb for the advice and the lead on where to locate the drum machines.

Lyrics:

I Could Be Wrong

A song about thinking that you loved someone but actualy didn't.

Everyone I meet they all say ‘hi’
But they don’t know that there’s no ‘you and I’
I keep on walking try to keep my cool
But now your gone I know I’ve got no soul
If they all knew they’d say move on
Learn to sing a different song
But they don’t really understand
What it’s like to lose you

Didn’t think I was ever gonna lose you
Didn’t see it coming, no
Didn’t think I was ever gonna miss
But I know that I could be wrong
Ever since you told me you were leaving
I have lost my way around
Waiting for the day you find me standing I lost and found.

Everyone I meet they seem to know
I have only one place left to go
So I keep walking try to find my way
Hope they find me on a brighter day
If they really knew they’d walk on by
Learn to leave this soul to cry
‘Cos they will never understand, what it was to love you

Chorus 2 to solo

Every day I meet with open eyes
But I know there will be no big surprise
I have only one thing on my mind
The one thing that I know I’ll never find.
I can’t seem to get in gear
Drive myself right out of here
When you’re the one who holds the key to
Turn my engines over.

Subway Tale

A sordid tale of metro love and cheatin hearts

You weren’t in bed when my alarm went off.
Got on the subway and you stepped off.
I didn’t see the dude he must have dropped a stop back
But I saw the mess on your face as you turned to look back.

You ran helter-skelter away
I was already on my way
Fifteen blocks to get my head back on
Figure out why you did me wrong

You don’t need to tell me you’ve been messing around
I let the subway catch you out and now your going down.
You don’t need to tell me any pretty lies,
I let the subway catch you out and I hope you enjoy the ride

You gave me the two bit lies about staying with friends
But I saw your ticket and I know where it ends
Your upper west side buddies brought a new zip code
‘Cos the lower east side is the only place you could go
You better pack your overnight bag
While I just pack my Chesterfield Kings
You can wave your right to a plea
While I wave bye- bye thru my smoke rings.

Chorus to guitar solo

You weren’t in bed when you I was getting off.
I stepped off the subway with Susannah Hoffs
She stayed the night and uncoupled my mind
Put her back on the D Train so she was home in time.
She was getting’ off her old man was getting on
He spent all night wondering where she had gone
She crept away from his bedside
She got on the train and took an all night ride.

Chorus to fade
